Abstract

526,158. Metal-working presses; linkwork. KLOCKE, W. March 9, 1939, No. 7672. [Class 83 (iv)] [Also in Group XXIV] The reciprocating tool-carrying slide 12 of a press is coupled to an oscillating crank 16 by a connecting-rod 14 operated by a link 55 coupled to a unidirectional driving crank 32. The link exerts a substantial turning moment on the crank 16 when the latter is at 90 degrees from the position shown, and the movement of the slide, compared with one derived from a simple crank and connecting rod, is fast in the top part of the stroke and slow in the bottom part. In Fig. 1, the link is connected to the driving crank by a pivoted two-armed lever 44 and a connecting- rod 42. In Fig. 5 the crank 32 is embraced by a block 72 adapted to reciprocate in a slot in a lever 65 pivoted on a pin 66 and pivotally connected to the link 55. The drawings include movement diagrams of the slide and its operating mechanism.
