[Classes 91 and 95] [Also in Groups V and IV] An anti-oxidant for unsaturated vegetable oils, essential oils, petroleum oils, soaps, paints and varnishes consists of the reaction product of an aliphatic ketone and a tertiary amine of the formula where R1, R2 represent a substituted or unsubstituted aryl radical and R3 represents an alkyl group. Ketones specified are acetone, methyl-ethyl ketone, methyl-butyl ketone, methyl-hexyl ketone, ethyl-isobutyl ketone, mesityl oxide, phorone, acetonyl acetone and cyclohexanone and the tertiary amines are N-methyl or ethyl derivatives of diphenylamine or phenyl-beta-naphthylamine and other derivatives of diphenylamine.
