Abstract

An anti-oxidant for oils, soaps, &c. consists of a nitroso derivative of an alkoxy-substituted diarylamine of the general formula <FORM:0492803/III/1> in which R represents an alkyl group and AR an aryl residue. About 1 per cent of the nitroso derivative is added. Examples of such derivatives are: bis-(p-methoxy-phenyl-nitrosamine), phenyl - p - benzyloxy - phenyl - nitrosamine, phenyl - p - isopropoxy - phenyl - nitrosamine, and phenyl-p-methoxy-phenyl-nitrosamine.ALSO:An anti-oxidant for synthetic resins &c. consists of a nitroso derivative of an alkoxy-substituted diarylamine of the general formula <FORM:0492803/IV/1> in which R represents an alkyl group and AR an aryl residue. About 1 per cent of the nitroso derivative is added. Examples of such derivatives are bis-(p-methoxy-phenyl-nitrosamine), phenyl - p - benzyloxy - phenyl-nitrosamine, phenyl - p - isopropoxy - phenyl-nitrosamine and phenyl-p-methoxy-phenyl-nitrosamine.ALSO:Rubber and similar oxidizable substances are preserved against oxidation by incorporating a nitroso derivative of an alkoxy-substituted diarylamine of the general formula <FORM:0492803/V/1> in which R represents an alkyl group and AR an aryl residue. About 1 per cent of the nitroso derivative is added. Examples of such derivatives are, bis-(p-methoxy-phenyl-nitrosamine), phenyl-p-benzyloxy-phenyl-nitrosamine, and phenyl-p-methoxy-phenyl-nitrosamine.
