Abstract

525,069. Wave motors. ERDOS, L. Feb. 13, 1939, No. 4748. [Class 69 (i)] A wave motor, for storing water or air under pressure, having pumps or compressors 2 with pistons 3 secured in an embankment at a downward angle of slope to the water so that, after a compression stroke has been produced by a wave striking a flat impact board 12 connected to the piston, the return stroke is caused by the weight of the piston, is characterized by the use of a number of superposed rows of cylinders and impact boards. In the construction shown, the pistons 3 are in the form of plungers to which the impact boards 12 are directly connected, the boards being guided by brackets 13. Buffers and springs 14, 15 prevent shock at the end of the delivery and suction strokes respectively. In a modified construction, the plungers 3 are replaced by pistons connected by piston-rods to heads to. which are secured extension frameworks guided by the brackets 13 and carrying the impact boards at their outer ends.
