524,994. Stretching yarns. DUNLOP COTTON MILLS, Ltd., LANGSTRETH, M., and PICKUP, L. F. Jan. 13, 1939, No. 1190. [Class 120 (iii)] [Also in Group XXV] Cord or yarn e.g that used in pneu matic tyres or belting is submitted to a pre determined pull be tween a driven take up and a retarded let off. Each stretching apparatus comprise! a let-off having a retarding brush B bearing against the let-off bobbin A under the action of gravity, and a takeup bobbin C<SP>1</SP> driver by gearing D<SP>1</SP>, D<SP>2</SP>. Arranged between the bobbins A<SP>1</SP>, C' are bars E<SP>1</SP>, E<SP>2</SP>, E' mounted so to be adjustable vertically. one bar E<SP>2</SP> being adjustable laterally of the other two. A guide bar 2 and a traversing device 3 for laying the cord upon each take-up bobbin C<SP>1</SP> may also be provided. The cord may be led through a bath of impregnating or wetting liquid disposed adjacent the guide bar 2.
