Abstract

524,821. Retreading tyres. LAKE, A. E. Feb. 8, 1939, No. 4101. [Class 87 (ii)] A vulcanizing mould for retreading tyres comprises a sheet metal band A larger than the diameter of the tyre when being vulcanized, having internal flanges A4, A5 to enclose the material F of the new tread, together with a number of plates D in which the desired pattern of tread is formed, the necessary number of which are fitted within the band to cover the inner periphery thereof. The band may be made up of sections, such as three, and the plates made sufficiently thin and of suitable material, such as die castings, to enable them to be curved to fit the band, to which they are riveted.
