Abstract

Moulding wheel tyres.-A solid tyre having a continuous internal annular cavity and a unitary steel rim or foundation is formed by first pressing the tread M. Fig. 1, within a mould A fitted with a core-forming cavity B and effecting a preliminary vulcanization; then applying such tread to a unitary rim K, Fig. 2. carrying a sheet of hard rubber S, within a circular mould A of slightly smaller dimensions. The rim K may be furnished centrally with a few small holes which are subsequently filled. The tread band may be initially formed by extrusion and may have hard rubber applied thereto before pressing in the preliminarv mould. The Specification as open to inspection under- Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the preliminary mould is rectilinear. This subject-matter does notappear in the Specification as accepted.
