Abstract

524,819. Silvering. METAPLAST CORPORATION. Feb. 7, 1939, No. 4022. Convention date, May 23, 1938. [Class 82 (ii)] A method of ornamenting the surface of a plastic material comprises depolishing the surface, treating it with stannous chloride solution, washing, and subjecting the washed surface to the action of a silver solution under conditions to precipitate silver thereon. The resulting coating may be polished or otherwise finished or may be electroplated. A stencil may be used so that desired parts only of the surface are affected.
