631,364. Ornamenting aluminium. ALUMINIUM CO. OF AMERICA. June 4, 1947, No. 14764. Convention date, March 2, 1939. [Class 93] [Also in Group XXXVI] A method of ornamenting the surface of an aluminium or aluminium alloy article comprises providing the surface with contrasting roughened and relatively smooth areas, anodically treating the surface in a brightening electrolyte, (see Group XXXVI), and thereafter applying a protective coating of aluminium oxide to the surface. The protective coating may be applied by chemical or electrolytic treatment.
