Abstract

524,756. Effervescent medicinal salts. PHILLIPS CHEMICAL CO., C. H. Feb. 6, 1939, No. 3909. Convention date, March 17, 1938. [Class 81 (i)] A dry effervescent preparation comprises a mixture of a reversible magnesium hydroxide composition produced by evaporating a magnesium hydroxide suspension in the presence of sugar with an effervescent salt mixture in which the mixture contains from 5-50 per cent. of magnesium. hydroxide, 20-60 per cent. of effervescent salt and 30-70 per cent. of sugar. A suitable effervescent salt composition consists of sodium bicarbonate and citric and tartaric acids. Magnesium and sodium citrates, magnesium sulphate and soluble saccharin may also be present in the complete mixture. Specification 514,888 is referred to.
