Abstract
524,574. Metal-vapour apparatus. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., FRANCIS, V. J., and KETTLEWELL, E. Feb. 1, 1939, No. 3390. Addition to 504,120. [Class 39 (i)] The electrode structure described in the parent Specification is supported by a rod 9 which projects inwardly from the seal 10 and is embraced by the helix 8 which connects the thermionically active part 7 of the electrode with the refractory part 6. The part 6 is of rod-like shape but may have an enlarged head 5, and the structure may be stiffened by tungsten wires 12, Fig. 2, overlying the helix 8 and held in place by an additional outer helix 13. The seal 10 may be formed by collapsing a quartz tube over a molybdenum strip 11 and the end of the rod 9 connected by an intervening molybdenum strip 14.
