Abstract
524,465. Boots &c. RICHTER, E. Jan. 30, 1939, No. 3178. Convention date, Feb. 25, 1938. [Class 17 (ii)] A shoe, particularly a slipper, is made in detachable parts. The upper a, Fig. 6, is provided with a wire ring b at its lower edge insertable beneath a similar wire ring d fitted in a grooved outsole the ring being interlocked by a stepped insole i. The upper is made of soft leather textile fabric, or similar flexible material, The sole consists of two layers of leather, rubber or the like c, with an inside layer f of fabric pasted therein. The insole i may be of leather, rubber, or the like. A flange k overlies the upper as shown. At the front and rear portions of the insole there are grooves m, Fig. 5, which overlap the sections of the upright edge g of the outersole. First the stiffened edge b of the upper is inserted in the groove of the edge g of the outsole. Then the insole is introduced and pushed up to the front. The wires b, d, thus engage the groove m. The rear parts are then engaged by pushing up the centre of the insole. Finally the sides of the insole are engaged. In a women's shoe, Fig. 7, there are thin layers c in the sole and a heel may be provided. As the upper is flexible, it may be turned when soiled or worn. If the shoes are not symmetrical, a turned upper is used on the other foot and vice versa. A plurality of different coloured layers a, Fig. 9, may be used. In this case four layers are shown giving eight different surfaces on turning. Repairing is facilitated.
