Abstract

523,918. Dyeing. MAY, P. (Chemical Works, formerly Sandoz). Jan. 17, 1939, No. 1625. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, July 19, 1939.] [Class 15 (ii)] Brown polyazo dyes are made on fibres of cellulose, regenerated cellulose or nitrocellulose by dyeing with trisazo dyes of the formula wheren X and Y = H or halogen, and then treating in neutral or weakly acid conditions with diazo compounds of halogenated and/or nitrated amines of the benzene series which may also contain alkyl or alkoxy groups. In examples (1) and (2) viscose crepe is dyed with the dye of the above formula when X and Y = H or Cl in the 2:5-positions and developed with diazotized p-nitroaniline to a deep brown : other diazo components specified are o-nitroaniline, o-chloraniline, 2:5-dichloraniline, 2- nitro-4-chloraniline, 4-nitro-2-methoxy-1-aminobenzene, 3-chlor-2-methoxy-1-aminobenzene, 4 -nitro-2 methyl-1-aminobenzene. Specifications 8144/09 and 412/11, [both in Class 15 (ii)], are referred to.
