Abstract
523,352. Two-part couplings. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Dec. 31, 1938, No. 37998. Convention date, Dec. 31, 1937. [Class 38 (i)] A thermionic valve having four' pins sealed separately into the envelope is mounted in socket-clamps that engage the pins and are resiliently connected to a support. The lower clamps 10 consisting of jaws 14, 16, tightened by screws 20 on the pins 2, 4, carry the weight of the valve and are mounted on bent spring strips 26, 28 that allow the clamps to adjust themselves to variations in the position of the pins of individual valves. The strips 26, 28 are secured to terminal blocks 34 attached to insulators 36. The upper pins 3 are engaged by split sockets 52 pressed into contact with the pins by springs 56 that lie between cooling pins 54. A double resilient strip 50 is attached to both halves of the socket by screws 58, 58a.
