Abstract

523,334. Invalids' beds. PHILLIPS, Ltd., A., and ROGERS, A. E. Dec. 31, 1938, No. 37958. [Class 52 (ii) ] An invalid's bed comprises a central vertical pivot 11 carried by a stand 10 and supporting the sectional mattress. This consists of a central section 17 non-inclinable in the longitudinal direction but tiltable together with the whole bed in the lateral direction. Hand and foot sections 26, 27 are articulated to the central section 17 and may be inclined upwardly or downwardly by means of screws 24a, 24b. The central section 17 is carried by U-shaped members 16 secured to sleeves 15 pivoted on a pin 14 about which the section can be tilted laterally by screw means. Guard rails 30, 34 are detachably or adjustably mounted and the whole bed may rotate horizontally about the vertical pivot 11.
