523,165. Drawing instruments. THORNTON, Ltd., A. G., and GILES, W. H. Dec. 23, 1938, No. 37538. [Class 97 (iii)] One leg b of dividers or compasses, or a loose limb, is longitudinally split, and in such manner that the leg remains in one piece, to enable a fine adjustment to be effected by the inherent springiness and by a screw or other device. As shown, the adjustment is effected by a nut e on a threaded stud e' projecting across the split b<SP>2</SP>. The split may open on the inner side of the leg, and tightening of the nuts may open the split instead of closing it.
