Abstract

523,026. Displaying. SIK, G. Dec. 22, 1938, No. 37310. [Class 3 (i)] [Also in Group XXXV] A platform for displaying articles is rotated by frictional contact with the end of an electromagnetically vibrated armature 14, 15, 16. The magnet 12, energized by interrupted direct or by alternating current, is arranged with its core parallel to the magnetic plate 15, the polepieces 25, 26 extending laterally of the magnet to lie one with its tip just short of the plate 15 and the other with a bent-over portion parallel to the plate 15. The turned-up tip 16a of the springy portion 16 bears against a rubber tube 17 carried by a metal ring and rubber washers on the inside of a skirt depending from the display platform. The whole armature is so weighted, by washers 37, and adjusted, by swingably mounting the magnet and armature assembly, that for a given current frequency the phase of the tip 16a is opposite in sense to that of the outer end of the plate 15, a node or quasi-node being formed in the spring strip 16. Swingably adjusted locking - plates 32 engaging a groove in the vertical spindle of the platform hold the latter in position. In a modification the springs 14, 16 are integral and the magnet is disposed with its core at right-angles to the plate 15. Instead of a rotating platform, the device actuated may be a disc or band bearing advertisements, or the like.
