Abstract

In the case of this trip element having an armature (1), a yoke (2) and permanent magnet (3) for producing the magnetic flux, and having a restoring spring (4) as well as a trip coil (5), the armature and yoke consist of a soft-magnetic, corrosion-resistant material. In order to increase the sensitivity of the trip element, a layer (7) of metal or plastic is deposited to a thickness of up to 1 mu m in the air gap (6), on the surface of the ground armature or yoke, to be precise in such a manner that said layer sheaths the microscopically small projecting tips (8) of the ferromagnetic material down to the root (9). The specified layer thickness of up to 1 mu m is accordingly sufficient to achieve the desired lubricating effect so that wear no longer occurs throughout the long life and the air gap thus remains constant, and the desired high sensitivity is therefore ensured.
