Abstract
PURPOSE:To manufacture uniformly a perpendicular magnetic thin film indicating stable and square hysteresis by a method wherein external magnetic field to be generated by a permanent magnet fixed to a substrate is applied in the perpendicular direction to the substrate at the stage to make the thin film to grow. CONSTITUTION:The permanent magnet 3 formed by using Ba-ferrite, etc., is fixed to the glass substrate 2 as to make magnetic field to be applied to the substrate in the perpendicular direction using substrate holders 1, 1'. The thin film is made to grow according to the sputtering method, etc., using an evaporation source of Gd0.20Fe0.80, etc., on the substrate 2 thereof being applied with perpendicular magnetic field constituted by this way. Accordingly the perpendicular magetic thin film having extremely effective characteristic a the magnetic recording material can be manufactured.
