Abstract

1,208,646. Electric counters. COMPAGNIE DES COMPTEURS. 6 Nov., 1968 [23 Nov., 1967], No. 52565/68. Heading G4D. [Also in Divisions G1 and H2] A current-carrying armature 8 has two supporting limbs 8b, 8c, a base-plate 8a for reciprocation in the air-gap of a magnetic system, and a third limb 7 for stepping on a counter at each pulse applied to the system. At each rotation of a road-wheel a proximity device applies a pulse to a coil 15 in series with the armature 8. The coil 15 embraces an annular ferromagnetic member 13 influenced by a permanent magnet 10 and acts against a spring 16 to indicate the average frequency of the pulses and therefore the speed of the vehicle. The armature 8 acts on a ratchet wheel 7 to advance total and trip odometers 3, 4.
