Abstract
522,520. Wheel bearings. GOODRICH SOC. ANON. Nov. 21, 1938, No. 33850. Convention date, Nov. 20, 1937. [Class 12 (i)] A wheel 1 is mounted on its axle by a pair of axially spaced roller bearings 4, 5, the bearing 4 being disposed in the plane of the load acting on the wheel. End movement of.the wheel is taken up by thrust bearings 10, 15, at the ends of the wheel hub. The bearing rollers are permitted of limited axial play and the members of the thrust bearings are permitted of limited radial play. The wheel is retained on the axle by a nut 8. In a modification the retaining nut screws on a sleeve which is retained on the axle end by a cotter pin. The bearing is particularly adapted for use with a resilient wheel.
