Abstract
522,139. Cathode-ray tubes. BAIRD TELEVISION, Ltd., and SAMSON, K. A. R. Dec. 7, 1938, No. 35635. [Class 39 (i)] A photo-electric mosaic electrode is formed by making a mosaic of conducting particles roughening the particles and thereafter sensitizing them. A mosaic of silver particles is heated to dull red heat by a hydrogen flame in air and then sensitized ; or a continuous film of silver is heated by a hydrogen flame in air to cause it to break up into discrete particles which are roughened by this process. The particles may be treated by nitric acid vapour ; the heating may be carried out in an oven so that the water vapour and oxygen content of the atmosphere may be controlled.
