521,674. Pianofortes. HERRBURGER, BROOKS, Ltd., and HEALEY, A. E. Nov. 24, 1938. No. 34250. [Class 88 (ii)] In a piano action having a partly or wholly inclined strike line and correspondingly inclined hammer rail 12, the flinges 17, 18 for pivotally mounting the wippens 7 and the hammer butts 3a on the inclined rail are so skewed that the pivots are horizontal. The arrangement is described as applied to a miniature upright piano in which the bass strings are arranged more nearly horizontal than usual so that strings approximating in length to those of a full size piano may be used, as described in Specification 462,497. It may also be used in grand pianos of small type as described in Specification 478,869.
