Abstract
529,845. Pianofortes. EAVESTAFF & SONS, Ltd., W. G., and DAVIS, J. T. May 24, 1939, No. 15406. [Class 88 (ii)] In an upright piano with a substantially straight strike line AB for the bass and treble strings, the bass strings D are arranged to extend substantially in a direction between opposite corners of the frame and to cross the strike line at angles never substantially greater than 45 degrees, e.g. 42 degrees, and they are also spaced sufficiently widely to avoid interference between adjacent strings, such increased spacing of the bass strings being compensated for by arranging treble strings, e.g. from R to S, closer together. The top bridges for the bass and treble strings are shown at F, G respectively.
