Abstract
520,714. Fire-extinguishing. GRAVINER MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., SALMOND, H. M., and MATHISEN, A. Nov. 7, 1938, No. 32207. [Class 47 (ii)] In a fire-extinguishing system for aircraft engines, a source 9 of extinguishing fluid under pressure is connected by unperforated piping 10, 12, 13 to spray nozzles 14, 15 arranged in the air intakes 4, 5 of the fuel system of the engine, and perforated spray pipes 16, 17 are connected in series with the nozzles and carried around parts of the engine 2, 3 and nacelle 8 which are most liable to fire. The perforations in the pipes 16, 17 are staggered along the pipes, and have a total area approximately equal to that of the pipes.
