290,896. Drugan, J. Oct. 13, 1927. Fire-extinguishing by steam; sprinkling apparatus, non-automatic.-In an arrangement for extinguishing fires in ships' holds, &c., steam from a boiler A passes under control of valves K to main distributing pipes B, headers C, and supply pipes D arranged beneath the holds or bunkers. It escapes into the holds, &c., by branches J, Fig. 3, holes H in the floor plates, and perforated spray plates G. Condensed steam passes away to the bilges through draining apertures provided in the floor plates. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 2222/83, 806/86, 22546/96, 2243/09, 12307/12 and 146,298.
