Abstract

695,097. Fire-extinguishing. GEVEKE, H. H. May 12, 1952, No. 11987/52. Class 47(ii) [Also in Group XXIX] In a valve for use in a fire extinguishing sprinkler installation and of the kind comprising a closure member 4 held against a seat 3 located between an inlet 2 for compressed gas and outlets 9, 10 leading to mist sprinklers by a fuse 13 which gives way when subjected to a relatively high temperature, a passage 6, 8 is provided through the valve stem so that, when member 13 fuses and the valve is opened by the pressure of the inlet gas, the latter can also flow to atmosphere through the valve stem. If a water supply is now connected to the inlet pipe 2, water will flow through the sprinkler heads in the form of a mist and through the passage 8 in the form of a jet, the latter being spread by a baffle 12.
