Abstract

519,927. Winches. BLUNDELL, (nee SHIRSHOV), M. E., and PUBLIC TRUSTEE, [Representatives of SHIRSHOV, J. P.]. July 7, 1938, No. 20184. [Class 78 (v)] [Also in Group XXIV] A hand-operated winch is provided with a spring-pressed dog-clutch 14 to allow of slip in case of excess load. The hollow shaft 10 driven by the clutch is rotatably fixed to an inner shaft 9 terminating in an eccentric 8 turning inside a gear wheel 7 which is held by an Oldham coupling or the like to gyrate only. The wheel 7 engages a slightly larger surrounding pinion 4 mounted on the drum 2, and so imparts slow rotation thereto with mechanical advantage. A releasable pawl 31 engages a ratchet wheel 12 on the shaft 10 to allow of free unwinding. A spring-pressed brake shoe 33 bears continuously on the drum face 6.
