519,728. Vacuum cleaners. HOOVER, Ltd. Sept. 28, 1938, No. 28201. Convention date, Oct. 20, 1937. [Class 8 (i)] A propelled vacuum cleaner comprises an electric motor and a fan 9 on vertical axes, located side by side behind the floor nozzle. The motor is enclosed in a casing 18 suspended from the outer casing. The fan is enclosed in an inner casing over and into which the air is drawn from the nozzle. A removable cover 36 allows the introduction of a dusting hose engaging the eye 8 of the fan and held by a spring catch. The handle 31 is held in selected position by a spring catch. The agitator 15, driven from the fan shaft, may be held off the floor by height adjusting means when the hose is used, or may be otherwise put out of action.
