519,659. Valves. ROWLEDGE, A. J. Sept. 27, 1938, No. 28152. [Class 7 (vi)] In two-stroke engines having exhaust ports 7 controlled by the upper edge of a reciprocating sleeve valve 3, the end of the sleeve is thickened as at 9 to accommodate sealing-rings 10, the exhaust ports being provided with bars. 11 to allow the rings to sweep over them. The Figure shows a compression-ignition engine having a hot-plate 4, and in order to allow room for the enlargement 9 the hot-plate is reduced in diameter.
