Abstract

519,344. Snap-action switches. PARSONS. Ltd., C. H., and HANDLEY, G. B. Oct. 14, 1938. No. 29764. [Class 38 (v)] In a snap-action switch of the tumbler or pull-chain type the moving-contact member f pivots at j about an intermediate member p which swings about the pivot b for the dolly or operating lever v and a pin g on the lever v engages a slot m in an extension of the member f A dead-centre compression spring is arranged between the pin g and the member j which extends between the two arms of the contact member f. Operation of the lever v carries the spring over a dead centre resulting in a swing-over of the contact-member about its pivot j as well as a swing-over of the pivot itself. Positive actuation is obtained by the member f levering against an edge of the bridge. In the form shown the lever v is itself operated to and fro by successive pulls on the chain 15. When the chain is released a lever 10 moves to its dotted position so that when the chain is next pulled, the portion 13 of the lever 10 engages the opposite side of the lever v and moves it into its other position.
