Abstract

922,312. Actuating devices for switches. S. SMITH & SONS (ENGLAND) Ltd. Dec. 8, 1961 [Dec. 15, 1960], No. 43151/60. Class 38 (5). A microswitch actuator comprises a lever arm 11, e.g. a rigid metal strip, having a widened end portion carrying laterally-projecting lugs 13 which project into open-ended slots 10 provided by end portions 4 of a bracket 3, e.g. of phosphor bronze, secured around the microswitch case 1. Spring fingers 15 project from the central portion 5 of the bracket 3 and are bent at right-angles to extend along the plunger face of the case 1 and force the lugs 13 towards the closed ends of the slots 10. A cross-piece 16 joins the outer ends of the spring fingers. Pressure on a knob 14 causes lever arm 11 to pivot about the lugs 13 and operate the switch plunger 2, further pressure due to overtravel merely causing the arm to pivot about its point of contact with the plunger and lift the lugs 13 away from the closed ends of the slots 10 against the action of the spring fingers 15.
