Abstract
1,029,592. Press-button retractive switches. OTEHALL Ltd. Sept. 17, 1962 [June 15, 1961], No. 21653/61. Heading H2B. A snap-action electric switch comprises a movable contact carrying arm 4, with contact 9, arranged to snap over from engagement with a fixed contact 10 to a fixed contact 11 under the action of a spring-loaded over-centre movement. The contact arm 4 is pivoted in a kink 7 of a support member 8 and has a tension coil spring 12 attached to it, the other end of the spring being connected to an actuating member 14 which pivots in a groove 15 of the switch casing 1. The switch is operated by depressing a plunger 17 and a link 18, which is pivoted to the plunger and the member 14. The member 14 pivots and moves the spring 12 over-centre with respect to the pivotal axis of the arm 4 and causes the arm to snap into its lower position. In another embodiment, Fig. 1 (not shown), the contact arm 25 is moved by a rocker member 26 pivoted to the arm and to a leaf spring 27, held under compression between the end of the rocker member and link 48, and support member 28.
