518,167. Waxy emulsions. CHARBIN, R. May 18, 1938, No. 14858. Convention date, May 18, 1937. [Class 1 (i)] [Also in Groups IV and VIII] Pile fabrics are treated with an aldehyde substance and before, during, or after this treatment they are subjected to treatment with a waxy or paraffin emulsion, the dispersed particles of which are positively charged by the presence of an amphoteric metal salt of a weak acid such as aluminium formate or a similar zinc salt. The dispersion may be maintained by the presence of a fatty alcohol amino sulphate- or sulphonate. Vegetable waxes, beeswax, Japan wax, or paraffin wax may be used in forming the emulsions. The emulsions may contain sulphonated olive oil, sulphated or sulphonated higher fatty alcohols which may also include amido or amino radicles and which may be derived from compounds containing lauryl, oleyl, palmityl, or ricinoleyl groups.
