Abstract
513,918. Making dispersions. I.G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT.-GES. April 20, 1938, No. 11845. Convention date, April 20, 1937. [Class 1 (i)] [Also in Group IV] Cyclic amidines, free from sulpho groups and containing at least 12 carbon atoms, derived from aliphatic 1 : 2 or 1 : 3 diamines and aliphatic carboxylic acids, or the corresponding quaternary ammonium compounds are used as dispersing agents in treating textiles with aqueous liquids. The salts of the cyclic amidines may be used for emulsifying animal, vegetable and mineral oils and paraffin and other waxes. By introducing polyoxyalkylether groups or polyglycerol radicles the cyclic amidines are rendered soluble. In examples : (1) an emulsion of paraffin wax in water is prepared by means of heptadecyl or heptadecenyl-tetrahydropyrimidine hydrochloride aluminium or lead acetate is added and the mixture used for waterproofing; (2) zinc sulphide white is dispersed by means of a fatty alcohol sulphonate and heptadeceny limidazoline acetate and the resulting dispersion used to deluster viscose artificial silk.
