Abstract

517,410. Radiators for cooling liquids. BELAIEFF, J. F., DELANEY, C. T., and GALLAY, Ltd. Feb. 15, 1939, No. 4936. [Class 64 (iii)] A cooler for oil and other liquids has radiator elements z consisting of horizontal tubes connected to front and rear headers and arranged in V-form, and of comparatively large diameter horizontal tubes h 'connected to front and rear chambers b, c arranged between the radiator elements. Oil flows from the inlet tank b through the tubes h to the tank c thence into a header d and through the lower radiator element. It then passes through an intermediate tank e to the upper radiator element. When the oil is cold, the rise in pressure due to the viscosity of the oil, opens a valve i to allow the oil to flow directly from the tank c to the outlet header.
