Abstract

516,290. Buckles. WOOD, F., GRIFFITHS, J., and WHATMOUGH, C. June 27, 1938, No. 18952. [Class 43] The free end 1 of the usual pivoted prong of a buckle is locked in a recess 4 in the bar 2 of the buckle frame by a cap or bar 5 on a sleeve 6 which is normally swung about the bar 2 into locking position by a spring 9; a stop pin 11 engaging shoulders 12, 13 limits the amount of movement of the sleeve. In a modification, Fig. 5, the cap or bar 32 is formed by bending spring wire as shown. The wire also being bent to form oppositely wound helical springs 16, 17. In another modification, these oppositely wound springs are formed from strip material. In still another modification the cap member is formed on the end of a spring tongue provided on a bridge piece connecting two slips fitted about the bar 2.
