Abstract

515,593. Electrically-heated irons. GUNN, A. J., and DOWSING CO. (Electrical Manufacturers), Ltd. June 13, 1938, No. 17471. [Class 39 (iii)] A double pole control switch 10 is adapted to be actuated by movement of the member 11 when an electric iron is slid on or off the platform 6 of the current-supplying shelf 4, such movement taking place without the aid of springs. The electric iron has terminals 1 which engage the contact-plates 5 when the iron is slid on, said plates being protected by the shrouds 7. Thermostatic control of the heating is effected by the heat-responsive bar 20 which is connected to the screwed rod 23, said rod being provided with an adjusting knob 25 and adapted to operate a micro-switch 28. The pin 33 and screw 34 project forwardly and so prevent the removal of cover 8 when the iron is on the shelf.
