Abstract
515,445. Vehicle lamps. ARMSTRONG, J. J. V. (Bosch Ges., R.). June 2, 1938, No. 16462. [Classes 75 (ii) and 75 (iii)] Tn a vehicle lamp in which a concave reflector is carried on pivots at two opposite points of a mounting ring detachable from the vehicle body, the axis of the pivots with respect to the ring and the angular position of the reflector with respect to the axis are adjustable and adapted to be maintained in every adjustable position. As shown in Fig. 2, one spring-pressed pivot pin 6 is mounted directly on the ring 3 and the other pivot pin 7 is mounted on an adjustable strip 8, secured by a screw 11 and a spring disc 12, the pin 7 and the screw 12 passing through slots 9, 10 in the ring 3. The disc 12 is guided by a pin 14 on the strip 8 engaging a hole 15 therein. A similar strip 8 and securing means 11, 12 are provided at the top of the reflector 4 for adjusting the latter about the horinzontal axis through the pivots 6, 7. The inner end of the ring 3 engages a packing-ring 22 to seal the reflector, the ring 3 and lens 2 being mounted in a ring 1 in the vehicle body 19. In a modification, in which the reflector 23, Fig. 4, is cut off obliquely at the front, the ring 24 carries a spherical pivot 30 for the reflector at one side, and the other pivot 27, carried by a strip 25, passes through a slot 29 in the ring and is retained by a cotter pin 28, the strip 25 being held adjustably by a bolt 35, a nut 37 and a spring 33. A similarly adjustable strip 25 is provided at the top of the reflector for adjusting the latter. The ring 24 is preferably provided with longitudinal slots for resiliently engaging the reflector.
