Abstract

497,377. Vehicle lamps and lamp mountings. BOSCH AKT.-GES., R. June 26, 1937, Nos. 17823 and 17824. Convention dates, June 26, 1936 and Oct. 12, 1936. [Classes 75 (ii), 75 (iii), and 75 (iv)] In a headlamp mounting in which the lamp is inserted from the front into an opening in the vehicle body and is supported by a cover ring adjustably mounted in the opening, the cover ring 7 is held resiliently at the top by one or more U-shaped springs 11 and an adjustable stop 18 is provided on the body 5 for engaging a flange 19 at the bottom to determine the inclination of the lamp. As shown in Fig. 1, the ring 7 is formed with a sphericallycurved part 8 for engaging a corresponding seating 6. The stop 18 is a collar on a screw 17 and the lamp is secured by a screw 16 so that, on removing the latter, the lamp can be removed for changing a bulb without disturbing the setting. The springs 11 are inserted in openings 10 in the rear part 9 of the ring 7 and are held by slots therein engaging projections 13 in the openings, one leg of each spring abutting a stop 14. The glass 20 and reflector 21 are held by springs 22 in the ring 7 and a socket plate 23 for the lamp bulbs is held in the reflector by a resilient hoop 24. The latter is formed with a bend 25 for engaging the seating 6 to act as a stop, and protect the reflector against damage by the seating, during removal of the lamp. In a modification, two adjustable screw stops 26, 27, Fig. 6, are provided at either side of the screw 16 for adjusting the lamp in both horizontal and vertical planes.
