425,653. Mounting electric lamps in lamp reflectors. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. May 7, 1934, No. 13760. Convention date, June 9, 1933. [Classes 39 (ii) and 75 (iv)] An electric lamp for use in a reflector comprises a bulb 11 with a light source 12 therein and a base 15 having a transversely extending projection or flange 20 at least a portion of which is accurately located with respect to the light source for giving the lamp a prefocused characteristic, the projection or flange being provided with one or more slots 21 for engaging locking means on the reflector 25. The margin 27 of the opening 28 in the reflector for the passage of the base 15 bears a predetermined relation to the focal point of the reflector. The flange 20 is held against the margin 27 by conically headed pins 24, which pass through the slots 21, holes 29 in the margin 27 and holes 30 in a spring member 31 and are flattened at their ends over the washers 33. The spring member 31 has V-shaped parts 34 which bear against the back of the margin 27. The slots 21 are large enough at one end for the passage of the heads of the pins 24. The pins may have separate springs. The flange 20 is formed in one with the base 15, or forms part of a shell 19 which is adjustable before fixing by soldering or other means.
