Abstract
515,224. Variable-speed generator systems. RALEIGH CYCLE CO., Ltd., and BROWN, W. May 27, 1938, No. 15834. [Class 38 (iv)] Variations in light intensity in a cycle &c. lamp is obtained by connectng one or other of several bulbs b, c, of different voltage and current ratings, direct to a generator a which exhibits a terminal voltage that drops quickly with decrease of load resistance, such a generator is described in Specification 481,585. The bulb b rated at 12 volts 23 amps is energized when contacts 2, 3 of switch f are closed, and the bulb c rated at 25 volts 3 amps when contacts 1, 2 are closed. A rear lamp g of the same rating as the bulb c can be included in a common return circuit from both bulbs b and c. A battery e can be used as an alternative to generator a for energizing bulb c, and bulb g if provided, contacts 4, 5 being closed.
