Abstract
514,713. Valve amplifying circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., ROCHE, A. H., and GOULLEE, S. J. May 13, 1938, No. 14355. [Class 40 (v)] In a negative feedback amplifier in which a blocking condenser in one arm of the output bridge has appreciable impedance another condenser is inserted in an adjacent arm of the bridge to maintain the output impedance constant. The Figure shows an amplifier in which a condenser C10 is added to the output bridge R<13>, R<14>, R<15>, to compensate for the condenser C<9>. A decoupling resistance is provided so that variation in the impedance of the HT supply does not affect the balance of the output bridge. Gain control may be obtained by changing the feedback connection from CA to CB in which case a resistance R' equal to R3 is preferably included in the feedback circuit to maintain the correct termination. With reduced feedback the link HF is preferably opened for the condenser C<8> which corrects for rise in the output impedance at high frequencies. Attenuation due to condenser C<8> is compensated by the shunt R<8>C<4> in the feedback path. Condenser C<7> in addition to serving as a blocking condenser may also adjust the gain-frequency characteristic, and may be proportioned to give a slight rise in gain at the lower frequencies.
