Abstract
514,604. Telephone instruments. DEUTSCHE EDELSTAHLWERKE AKT.-GES. Jan. 29, 1938, No. 2910. Void. Convention date, Jan. 29, 1937. [Class 40 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXV] In a magnet system built up of separate components, a ferromagnetic plastic is used to obtain a low "transitional resistance " or reluctance at the joints. In the annular gap loud. speaker magnet shown, layers 2 of the plastic are placed between the surfaces of the permanent magnet 1 and the soft iron end plates 3. The whole is compressed in a press until the central pole-piece 5 is brought to the proper relationship with the upper pole plate 3, whereupon the assembly is fixed together by' the bolts 4. The surfaces of the two parts to be joined may be roughened. The plastic may consist of soft iron powder, obtained by precipitation from iron carbonyl, made into a paste with water glass, tragacanth, rubber, shellac or cement, or made into a springy, rubber-like form by admixture with a moulding powder and stamped to the desired shape from large sheets. The invention is applicable to permanent or electromagnets.
