Abstract

514,174. Magnetos. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. April 28, 1938, No. 12714. Convention date, April 29, 1937. [Class 35] A stationary armature magneto has rotor poleshoes of unequal circumferential extent separated by equal gaps and the arcuate stator pole-pieces are equal in angular extent to the said gaps. In the form shown, 'the rotor poleshoes 4, 5 are separated by magnets 2, 3 approximately equal in span, to the arcuate faces of the stator pole-pieces 6, 7. By this construction one spark only per revolution is produced even at high speeds the other flux reversal being too slow to generate an adequate voltage. Preferably; the circuit breaker is maintained open until after the unused flux reversal has taken place.
