Abstract

513,733. Rod couplings. SOUTHERN, H., SOUTHERN, P., and SOUTHERN, H. April 19, 1938, No. 11660. [Class 99 (i)] [Also in Groups XIV and XXV] A telescopic strut comprising inner and outer tubular members 5, 3 is locked in adjusted position by means of balls 10 housed in apertures in the inner member 5 and pressed into frictional engagement with the outer member 3 by a conical clutch 8 urged by a spring 11 to press the balls 10 outwardly. The clutch 8 is carried by a rod 7 which is raised for unlocking by means of a cam 15 on a shaft 13 coacting with a flat plate 16. Specifications 9874/91, 25083/13 and 102,779, [all in Class 44], are referred to.
