Abstract

513,719. Shirts &c. DOUGHTY, B., CAMPBELL, C. DAWSON-, and ABLE MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd. May 24, 1938, No. 15489. [Class 141] A shirt-like garment particularly for sports wear has its lower edge located at or adjacent the wearer's waist, and has secured thereto a waistband comprising a front portion, and a tubular rear portion 6 enclosing an elastic or resilient strip 7 which is secured to the ends of the front portion. The shirt preferably has a front opening extending throughout the length thereof, and the edges of the opening are detachably secured together. The front portion of the waistband is formed to simulate the front of a double-breasted waistcoat, and consists of two overlapping parts 10, 11, detachably secured together, e.g., by buttons and buttonholes 16, 17. In a modification Fig. 4, not shown, the front of the waistband is formed to simulate the front of a single-breasted waistcoat. In another modification, the garment is constructed with an opening extending only partially down the front thereof, or such opening may be provided at the back or side of the garment. In a further modification, the garment is sleeveless or provided with short sleeves; further it may be without a collar or have means for detachably securing a collar thereto.
