Abstract
513,360. Caps for bottles. ARMSTRONG CORK CO. Feb. 7, 1939, No. 3981. Convention date, April 27, 1938. [Class 125 (iii)] A double shell closure for bottles &c. comprises an inner cap 2 having a downwardly extending skirt 6, Fig. 2, flanged at 9 and formed with a numher of inwardly disposed conical or pyramidal pips 13 some of which are offset vertically from one another; an outer shell 3 beaded at 17 to engage a sufficient number of the pips 13 and being deformed by such engagement to prevent relative rotation of the inner cap 2 and outer shell 3. Preferably adjacent pips are offset vertically the pips being disposed in substantially horizontal rows the pips in one row being offset vertically from adjacent pips in the other row. The skirt 6 is screw threaded at 7. In a modification, the edge 20 of the skirt 21 of the outer shell 19, Fig. 3, is disposed between the rows of pips 22, engaging pips in both rows and being deformed thereby.
