Abstract
512,604. Props. WIGLEY, A.F. Feb. 21, 1939, No. 5730. [Classes 20 (i) and 20 (ii)] A prop of the kind comprising an inner perforated tubular member 2 adapted to receive a supporting pin and to slide in an outer tubular member 1, the upper end of which is screwed to coact with a nut 5 whereby a fine adjustment is given to the prop, has a sleeve 3 carried by the nut, the sleeve being provided with apertures at a smaller pitch than those in the inner member. A washer 4 is interposed between the upper surface of the nut and the lower end of the sleeve. A guide rod 6 is positioned in the outer prop member and is engaged by the flanged end of the inner member, to prevent complete withdrawal of the inner member. The ends of the prop members may be provided with flat or shaped supporting plates.
