Abstract

291,324. G³nther, J., and Saupe, J. Jan. 23, 1928. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Ellipsographs.-The instrument, comprises a fixed vertical limb 1 having at least two prongs for fastening it to a drawing-surface and having towards its lower end a collar 3 on which rests a rotatable, sleeve 4. At its upper end the limb 1 extends beyond the sleeve 4 and carries a collar 5 provided with pins 6 extending through apertures in a templet 7 which is circular in plan at its upper end 8 while its lower end is in the form of a flat ellipse, Fig. 2. The templet 7 contains a compression spring 9 and can be adjusted along the limb 1 by a nut 10. A slide 14 on the sleeve 4 carries pivoted bearing 18 for a graduated limb 19 which at its upper end carries a guide 22 which is kept in engagement with the templet 7 by a spring 35. At its lower end the limb 19 is pivoted to a link 28 which is also pivoted to a support 24 slidably mounted on a rod 25 extending from a plate 12 on the sleeve. 4. The support 24 carries a pin 31 on which is resiliently mounted a drawing pen 29 or a tube containing marking liquid. By using other forms of templet, figures other than ellipses can be drawn.
